The cornerstone of our Women’s Ministry is our Bible studies. We believe that we only think and behave rightly as we are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit as He applies the truth of Scripture to our hearts. Our desire is that every woman be involved in Bible study, therefore we offer in-depth studies as well as low-prep ones.
Our women’s Bible studies are a great way to connect with other women and fellowship with one another! All of our Bible studies meet at East Cobb Presbyterian Church. Preschool childcare is available for Wednesday morning classes beginning in the fall.
Fall 2015 studies
Ruth/Esther: NavPress Life Change Series
7:15-8:45 p.m. Tuesdays (no childcare provided)
Is God really sovereign? Can individuals make a difference in the world? A young girl named Ruth and a middle-aged man named Boaz would answer yes to both questions. Years later, a Jew named Mordecai and his cousin Esther saved their nation by also saying yes. These stories still inspire believers to affect the world by trusting God.
This 12 week study has about 1-1.5 hours of prep work per week and is led by Teressa Bracca, Debbie Robinson and Cindi Manning.
Overview of the Old Testament
9:45-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays
In our study of the Old Testament, we will be utilizing a Bible study curriculum designed and written by a women’s ministry in Roswell, Georgia. The Amazing Collection is a very unique Bible Study, allowing women who are new to God’s Word to comfortably begin their journey, while a seasoned Bible student experiences ‘aha moments’ as she sees the pieces of God’s Word fit together.
This 20 week study begins in the fall and continue into the spring semester and has about 1.5 hours of prep work per week. Class is led by Becky Loechl, Judy Marek, Millie Miles and Anna Noren. Childcare for infants – preschoolers is available by reservation only.
James by Warren Wiersbe
9:45-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays
Perhaps of all the books in the New Testament, James most squarely focuses on results. His pull-no-punches approach to spiritual maturity, his preference for action over words, makes his text the perfect backdrop for a study of how to grow in our faith. Beloved author and teacher, Warren Wiersbe, leads you through this practical book with advice on how to overcome temptation, controlling the tongue, effective prayer, and how to practice what the Bible teaches. If you’re going to make progress in these areas, you will need a growing faith and dependence on Christ because as James claims, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”
This 12 week study has about 30 minutes of prep work per week and is led by Maryanne Helms, Debbie Locke and Rhoda Owens. Childcare for infants – preschoolers is available by reservation only.
